Minnesota Democrats Aim To Infringe On Your Civil Rights

The notion of the Democrats being the party of tolerance and civil rights for all is one of the biggest running scams going in Minnesota politics. Their war against law abiding firearms owners is well documented, but they are taking a page out of the Obama administration’s IRS scandal and trying to force organizations that they disagree with politically to release the names of all donors while they secretly buy election after election with their Progressive organizations funded by a handful of billionaires and the labor unions.

Minnesota: Legislature Considering Ominous Bill Designed to Suppress Political Speech, Anti-Gun Legislation to Receive Committee Consideration

HF 1944 and SF 1915 would require organizations like the NRA, who engage in political speech, to immediately disclose the names of many of their donors, including those who pay membership dues.  These bills are intended to suppress political speech by organizations such as the NRA and others who communicate with their members.  These bills are overly broad, vague and would chill election-related speech.

HF 1944 is eligible for House consideration AT ANY TIME.

The state legislature is also considering several measures, House File 3067 and Senate File 2690, to impose additional regulations, serious penalties and red tape on permit holders who choose to carry their firearms while visiting the State Capitol Complex.  At this time, a law-abiding permit holder can carry in the State Capitol Complex as long as the permit holder has notified the Commissioner of Public Safety of their intent to do so in advance.

The additional superfluous proposed regulations would do nothing to improve the notification requirement or process, but instead would create traps for law-abiding permit holders.  This proposed legislation would go so far as to mandate an arbitrary “renewal” period for those permit holders who previously sought permission to carry on Capitol grounds, requiring that “within 30 days of the renewal date of a person’s permit to carry, the person shall renotify the commissioner of the person’s intent to carry,” or the permit holder could face a felony.

Anti-gun legislators have been attempting to ban the carrying of firearms in the state Capitol, and since they have continuously failed at instituting a ban, are setting traps for law-abiding permit holders who choose to exercise their Second Amendment rights while petitioning their elected officials.  The carrying of firearms for self-defense by law-abiding permit holders is not a threat to security at the state Capitol.  It is an affront to law-abiding Minnesotans to insinuate that permit holders are dangerous criminals who should be feared while on Capitol grounds.  Minnesota gun owners should not have to choose between their own security and participation in the legislative process.

MNSure’s Unreasonable Search and Seizure – I Plead The 4th

There is a new trend in Government, data is collected and shared with law enforcement and the IRS. Don’t worry though, its “just in case” you break the law. Of course this runs amuck of the Constitution, but that document is completely ignored now by politicians and agents of Government.

4th Amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

At the Federal level, the SAFE Act does a similar thing, including sending your finger prints and an FBI background check to the Department of Justice where it will be stored – just in case.

I saw a story on Drudge this morning about Maryland’s “marketplace” and how personal data is “protected” – more properly put – used to implicate you in a crime.

Maryland’s Health Connection, the state’s Obamacare marketplace, has been plagued by delays in the first days of open enrollment.  If users are able to endure long page-loading delays, they are presented with the website’s privacy policy, a ubiquitous fine-print feature on websites that often go unread. Nevertheless, users are asked to check off a box that they agree to the terms.

The policy contains many standard statements about information automatically collected regarding Internet browsers and IP addresses, temporary “cookies” used by the site, and website accessibility.  However, at least two conditions may give some users pause before proceeding.

The first is regarding personal information submitted with an application for those users who follow through on the sign up process all the way to the end.  The policy states that all information to help in applying for coverage and even for making a payment will be kept strictly confidential and only be used to carry out the function of the marketplace.  There is, however, an exception: “[W]e may share information provided in your application with the appropriate authorities for law enforcement and audit activities.”

Obamacare is a Federal law requiring ‘marketplaces’ so chances are every state will be the same….. MNSure is Mark Dayton’s version of Obamacare, I wonder what it does with data. Via MNSure’s terms and conditions page (aka what you must agree with to comply with this federal mandate. (AKA involuntary search and seizure)

With whom may we share information?

We will only share information about you as needed and as allowed or required by law. We may share your information with agencies or persons who need the information to do their jobs, such as MNsure employees, investigators and auditors, community assistance partners you are working with, law enforcement officials, other state, federal and local governmental agencies, your health care insurer, agency, managed care organization or others who pay for your care, and anyone else authorized by law to receive the information

What happened to the 4th Amendment?

I know defenders of Obama will quickly point out that most websites include similar language, but Obamacare is a mandate. Its involuntary (unless you helped elect Obama and Democrats and are owed a political favor so are granted a waver).

I guess Nancy Pelosi was right, we Congress did have to pass the bill before we could read the bill.

Just a reminder to everyone: Senator Al Franken was the deciding vote in passing Obamacare. Upon completion of his successful theft of the 2008 election recount, he became the 60th vote in the US Senate giving Democrats the ability to break a GOP filibuster on this disastrous law.

The DFL’s Alamo, Minimum Wage, Equal Outcomes, & Directive 10-289

Its interesting to me that whenever Government is projected to have a deficit, there are talks of spending cuts, or even reductions in the growth rate of it, Democrats trot out the Police, firefighters, old people, and school kids to use as a backdrop to force Republicans to increase taxes. Every single time there is not bipartisan support to increase taxes, the Democrats rattle off the same laundry list of services that will be cut or people that will lose their jobs. Its like clock work.

Now there is political motivation for why they do that, but the point it, they claim to understand some basic business principles. The idea is that if you restrict the amount of revenue Government has available to it, that things will have to change. They will have to find savings or cut spending. They always go for the jugular of schools, seniors, and first responders.

Perpetual and permanent government growth is the Democrats Alamo. They know that if Americans and Minnesotans remember/”figure out” that they can get a better deal, have better choices, and more freedom and liberty through the private sector that their quest for absolute power over the lives of us is over.Its why they oppose any education reforms empowering parents to do what is best for their kids. Unions remove the ability for localities to cater their pay and benefits to meet the local market supply and demand. Its one size fits all, let us make this decision for you.

A eerily plausible fictional interpretation of what Democrats truly envision is part of the Atlas Shrugged movies. Part 2 includes Directive 10-289.

You see evidence of that in DFL State Rep. Ryan Winkler’s minimum wage proposal which prohibits businesses from reacting to Government actions. Take a look at his latest amendment to the Minimum wage increase which shines a light on the scary similarities between modern day Democrats and the Wesley Mouch of Atlas Shrugged.

“Large employer” means an enterprise whose annual gross volume of sales made or business done is not less than $625,000…”

[...]

“No employer may take any action to displace an employee, including a partial displacement through a reduction in hours, wages, or employment benefits, in order to hire an employee at the wage authorized in this paragraph.”

[...]

“EFFECTIVE DATE. This section is effective the day following final enactment.”

I’m no economist and we hire a bookkeeper, but chances are our modest 5 employee company fits Winkler’s “large employer” definition. Just as the SAFE Act and Wall Street bills were aimed at millionaires and billionaires, little mom and pop shops, doing good and honest work providing goods and services with nary a complaint, end up getting squashed under the same iron fist of bureaucrats and progressive do-gooders.

Case in point. Winkler’s law will prohibit companies from doing exactly what he says Government will be forced to do if taxes aren’t increased. People will be fired or as Obama says with Sequestration, government workers will be furloughed.

Somehow Government understands that it takes money for private employers to actually employ people, but it doesn’t care that higher taxes, mandates wage increases, and government red tape all make that harder to do. Just imagine if they had the self awareness to pretend that their sacred Government was a private business and they were the CEO. The roles reversed. They understand the economic of business, the problem is their business is Government.

I could go on, but the point is, isn’t it ironic that whenever spending cuts are mentioned, Democrats squeal like pigs, yet they call businesses and private citizens greedy and unpatriotic when they have a similar reaction to Government wanting to take more of their money away.

Met Council chairwoman supports proposed transit sales tax hike during State of Region

Metropolitan Council Chair Sue Haigh reiterated her support for Gov. Mark Dayton’s proposed transit tax on Monday, Feb. 11 during her “State of the Region” address at the St. Paul Union Depot on Kellogg Boulevard.

And there were just a dozen or so who showed up to defend their 2nd Amendment rights from Dayton’s allies in the Legislature, but hey, they are professional journalists, they just count differently. When its a liberal action item, they count fingers and toes.

Haigh said that the recently-renovated train depot, first completed in 1923, represented the kind of long-term commitment to transportation infrastructure that the region is once again contemplating.

The “region” Dayton and his minions in the shadow government of Met Council focus on is downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. Their only plans for the broader Metro area is taxation….. OK fine, and to make it nearly impossible to drive your own car so you will finally surrender to their 19th century plan of trains trains trains.

“The generation that invested in this building did us a great favor in constructing this kind of lasting investment,” she said.

It probably cost a few hundred thousand dollars to build, and these lunatics just dumped over $250 million into it in order to explain why they needed to tear up a main thoroughfare between Minneapolis and St. Paul and disrupt thousands of peoples’ lives and put a bunch of business out of business. Ribbon cutting ceremony trumps jobs and the economy.

But hey, let’s scrape off the lipstick ad get to the hog suckling at the teet of the Twin City taxpayers.

Dayton has said he will push for a .25 percent sales tax, equivalent to a nickel on every $20 purchase, within the seven county metro. If approved by the state Legislature, the funds could help launch up to 15 passenger rail and Bus Rapid Transit lines within the next 20 years.

Record high gas prices. Stagnant economic growth. Tax increases hitting every Minnesotan. Uncertain cost of health insurance and the looming possibility of employers cutting hours to avoid the Government overreach in Dayton’s dream of Obamacare.

And here we have Dayton’s unelected shadow government trying to dig into our wallets for even more money to spend on their social engineering.

Maybe in heaven the news media will inform voters just how much disdain these bureaucrats have for free will and free markets.

While rome is burning, this lady is building a taj ma hall to rekindle that love affair Americans gladly made obsolete a century ago.

Today’s America is seemingly looking and feeling much more like the Colonies that were once ruled by a King.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

If passing a law forbidding you to own an assault rifle is all they need to do to make us safer, then why not just pass a law against killing people in schools or shopping malls?
Think about that for a minute.

Great question, which deserves expansion to prove the lunacy of the gun ban logic.

Why do bars have parking lots?

Its illegal to drink and drive, so why do we allow people to drive to bars. (Obviously excluding Minneapolis and St. Paul which have essentially banned driving and parking anywhere in their urban utopias)
Isn’t it pretty much entrapment or accessory to murder depending on “luck” to allow people to so easily do such a deadly, dangerous, and clearly illegal?

(Source STRIB) Drunken-driving deaths in Minnesota last year were down 40 percent from a decade ago, but there’s still a lot of work to do to save needlessly lost lives, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety said Friday.

That calculation was part of the agency’s release of its final 2011 drunken-driving data, in which it said 111 people died last year as the result of drunken driving, compared to 185 in 2002.

The agency also cited these numbers: 29,257 Minnesotans were arrested for DWI in 2011, one in seven state drivers has a DWI on record, and 1,265 Minnesotans have 10 or more DWIs.

From 2007 to 2011, 651 people were killed in drunken-driving crashes in Minnesota, an average of 130 deaths annually. During this same period, 166,962 motorists were arrested for DWI.

If safety of society is going to trump all else, guns are not the primary threat of great bodily harm.

I’m Sick And Tired Of Being Treated Like A Criminal

I am growing tired of “my Government” treating me like a criminal.

I can’t even watch the news anymore with out hearing someone proclaim that Americans must be treated like criminals in order to keep us all safe. Ban gun sales, transfers, and require registration (for a later confiscation). But of course, don’t disarm the police.

I feel like I am watching TV in some other country where a new dictator is afraid of the public. We are being culled like cattle. Disarmed. Our movements limited. Our choices predetermined.

Business moguls who favor stricter gun-control laws — among them Bloomberg LP founder and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, financier George Soros and entertainment honcho David Geffen – are in the unique position of being able to put their money where their mouths are, and with a single bold move can change the raging gun debate in a way that intransigent politicians cannot.

All statist liberals who are enemies of freedom, liberty, and independence.

These well-intentioned billionaires (and others) should buy Freedom Group Inc., the world’s largest gun manufacturer, from Cerberus Capital Management LP, which has put it up for sale, and literally liquidate it.

With Republicans Like These, Who Needs Democrats? 

If Washington Republicans would spend a few weeks outside of the DC beltway and media cone of disinformation broadcasts from their propaganda machine, they’d realize that America was not salivating at the idea of permanently increasing taxes on our most successful people and businesses making the US less competitive for the best and brightest in this global economy we live in.

If only the Washington Republicans had just looked at the fact that Republicans will be selecting the next Speaker of the US House since they were sent back with a majority in 2012 by voters and the uber liberal Democrats were not…..

Only in the mind of a Washington Republican can  you believe that the same voters who allegedly gave Obama and Harry Reid mandates also reelected a Republican House Majority to sit in the corner and rubberstamp socialisms march in America.

Washington Republicans were so paranoid by the pressures of reelection or polling or something that they allowed the media confusion of the issues to force them to literally author a major plank of socialism, redistribution.

From each according to their ability to each according to their needs.

Of course we also need to be reminded that Government is trying to solve a problem that Government actually created and here we are allowing them to try to fix it but sticking us with a bill for THEIR promises of free this and that.

Spending will continue to skyrocket under this “Republican Plan”. No cuts, no reforms, no sunsetting…. But tax increases are now the law of the land.
