Stop Pissing On My Leg And Telling Me Its Raining

crankybear.jpgPoliticians in St. Paul have finally figured out something that millions of Minnesotans have known for years. That our roads, bridges, and highway systems are a mess. The average Minnesotans has a better grasp of what is wrong with our transportation network than most Legislators – even the ones who have been serving for decades.

But sadly, these politicians don’t see a service that only the Government can provide, as a priority. Roads and bridges are something only Government can do. Its a core function of Government, but for some reason – now that politicians are finally taking the issue seriously – they claim they just can’t afford it unless us peasants who use the roads, bridges, and highways surrender more of our hard earned money in the forms of taxes and user fees.

The State of Minnesota has a $40 Billion budget this last cycle. More money than has ever been confiscated from Minnesotans and spent on our so called behalf. But apparently none of that money can or should be used for roads, bridges, and highways.

You see, politicians are terrified that if we start to spend existing state money on a core function of Government, people will start to see how much wasteful and mis-prioritized – spending already takes place. That’s why they are all clamoring for new taxes – aka: “revenue streams” – to fix what they have been ignoring for decades.

The dishonesty from the protectors of the nanny state is simply mesmerizing. They race out to the camera spotlights and spew talking points about how they need more money. Meanwhile they just blew through $40 Billion and never bothered to even think about our troubled roads and bridges.

The fact is that Governor Dayton, former Speaker of the House Rep. Thissen, and Majority Leader Tom Bakk – ALL DEMOCRATS  who had complete control of the State Government last year and could do anything they wanted, mind you – spent more money on the new Senate Office building than they did in the bonding bill for roads and bridges.

Minnesotans not only need better governance, they need honest politicians with better priorities than what we have now. For pete’s sake, they are going to hold road and bridge money hostage to a few billion more wasted on damn light rail boondoggles. Adding operating expenses to our already strained budget fight.

Every day when I sit in a known bottle neck with no plans for fixing, on that bridge held up by wood, or at a stop light so that empty choo choo can run on time, I feel betrayed. Minnesotans are being betrayed on a daily basis by the politicians we elect to serve us. But for some reason we just keep sending them back and the media keeps spinning the yarns that knit the narrative that we just can’t possibly fund a core function of government out of the general fund. Because that would mean the $40 Billion we have already spent is potentially not a priority.

These people spend their careers carving out pots of money for their friends, political allies, and buddies while shirking one of the core responsibilities of Government – a safe and reliable transportation network. There are people who have lost their lives in accidents over the years due to the direction of duty, but it appears no one cares.

When I see politicians and bureaucrats on camera telling me they just need more money to fix my problem the phrase ‘stop pissing on my leg and telling me its raining’ comes to mind.

My Congressman Voted For Boehner Today, Now What Do I Do?

So brand new Congressman Tom Emmer voted for John Boehner for Speaker of the House and I wouldn’t have done the same.

Now what?

My choices are,

1) Stay on in CD6 and hope to earn Congressman Emmer’s trust and pass along some wisdom from the inside. Yes, I could run for reelection as CD6 Treasurer and State Executive Committee member and try to change the Congressman’s mind on issues. The truth is there is so much else to fight for in party politics for me. In 2016 we must hold the MN House and retake the MN Senate. Anyone wasting any time on other pursuits in 2016 is a fool and best friend of the DFL. In 2018 we have another statewide war for Guv, US Senate, and such. There’s so much work to rebuild the part from the base up and strengthen it at the CD & State level, surely I could set difference  aside for the greater good…. But should I?

2) Take my ball and go home. Yes, I could walk away from politics altogether because try and try as I might, there is always another person or group that causes you headaches and makes the volunteer work even harder. Meanwhile other people doing the same thing as me (only worse) have figured out how to profit lucratively from it. Why bother? Yes the party work work needs to be done, but why do I continue to bang my head against the wall when some fanboy activist demands the world revolve around them one day and the next your Congressman votes exactly opposite of how you would. Another day a group will siphon off all the volunteers and teach them that listening to a couple guys tell jokes every week or so is doing something. I have better things to do. And frankly this little bit of venting is likely to have already earned me the distinguished status of enemy of a whole list of people and groups.

3) Put my money where my mouth is. Yes, if I am so let down by the people who represent me in Government, maybe its time for me to run. I’m no fan of personal grudge match endorsement battles or primaries, but I’ve had about all I can take. Maybe its time to run for something. And frankly if Congressman Emmer is going to be Boehner’s most reliable vote while compromising with Obama on the destruction of our Country, he is unworthy to represent me. There was no good alternative. I am too busy to know anything about the others who ran. But I do know that had I been sworn in to the 114th Congress, I would have voted for myself.

Sure, the insiders and people who get invited to all those fancy dancy parties  think Boehner is a great and masterful Speaker. Meanwhile the country is in Constitutional and fiscal crisis. The citizen is deemed the security threat. Taxes and regulation are an every day but necessary obstacle to the pursuit of happiness that is so drummed into us Americans that we don’t even bat an eye anymore. We’re at that now or never point.

What does this mean?

I don’t know. I’m open for advice.

Is it worth being just a lowly activist that operatives and politicians take advantage of anymore?

Is it time for me to run for State or Federal office?

Maybe a higher office with in the Republican Party?

Or maybe I should just go be a blissful uninformed voter and no longer care that this country and state are falling apart at the seems under the crushing force of Government?

Google Kills Birds in CA, But Promotes How Evil Vikes Stadium ??

Big BrotherFor those that know me well, they know I really don’t like Google. Their bogus (pay to stay) search results and all seeing eye of an information gatekeeping empire should scare the living begeebus out of every American. They get special treatment from the US Government because they cooperate with them like a good fascist company would do. Oh and they lean left too.

But I was not aware that not only do they have the pay to stay web search billion dollar business model that also selectively editorializes web traffic, but Google also owns a solar energy  farm that is killing birds.

IVANPAH DRY LAKE, Calif. –  A new form of solar energy is having an unwanted side effect: It makes some birds ignite in midair.

California’s energy commission is studying the issue of bird deaths at a new kind of solar plant that works with concentrated sun rays. The technology has proved unexpectedly deadly to birds at a new solar plant in the Mojave Desert. It’s owned by Google and two California energy companies.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is urging the state to hold off on permitting another plant of the same kind. It wants more study of what it says is the significant number of birds igniting and falling as they fly above the plant.

Anyone wanna bet that since Google is reaping profits from COUGH subsidized COUGH solar energy that this would potentially color their search engine rankings on energy production as a whole? Dare I say they maybe even venture into activism by spiking stories on traditional fossil fuel energy sources from search results?

After all, any for profit company would do everything within its power to hurt the competition – with in the bounds of the law of course. Did I meant I think they get special treatment from the US Government?

As to the Vikings’ reference…. Google: bird deaths minnesota and you’ll be directed to a list of stories about how the new Vikings’ stadium “may” be dangerous for birds. Meanwhile, Google’s solar plant in CA is frying birds in mid air. Do as the liberals say, not as they do….

Time to take the tin foil hat off and get to work so I can pay my taxes so we can subsidize Google’s bird killing solar power farm.

Can a private company violate your 4th amendment rights? Or only Government?

Obama’s Latest Marxist Usurpation

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism…..

No one is willing to look at the reasons why a business is leaving the US. Instead Obama is trying to claim ownership of private property. AKA: Confiscate it. That’s what a Marxist would do. Via Minnpost

“Retroactive,” no less.Jim Spencer in the Strib reports, “The Obama administration wants to stop corporate deals like a proposed Medtronic acquisition that could enable the company to save millions in U.S. taxes by shifting its headquarters to Ireland. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew this week urged the finance committees of both chambers of Congress to push legislation that restricts the ability of U.S. corporations to move their headquarters abroad to lower their tax bills. Lew wants the law made retroactive to May, a move that could scuttle Medtronic’s proposed $42.9 billion acquisition of Dublin-based Covidien.” It’ll be fascinating to see who opposes that one.

I’m pretty sure its unConstitutional to pass a law aimed specifically at a person or designated persons, but the Constitution is treated like a sneeze guard, not barrier to out of control Government in the United States of America.

The only people that can do wrong in Obama’s America are businesses and corporations.

This Republic is in serious trouble if these long train of abuses and usurpations continue.

Vote Early Minnesota!

Every vote counts and is needed to defeat Dayton, Franken, and retake the Minnesota house!

(PS: Don’t be an idiot and waste your vote on some 3rd party protest thing. Remember Al Franken won by just 312 votes and Mark Dayton won by only 8000.)

Voting like a teenage prankster has consequences and we are all paying for it.

$2.1 Billion a month – Where Does the Obamacare Bribe Money Come From?

The same people who refuse to repair that crumbling bridge your kid’s school bus crosses everyday because they say they just don’t have enough revenue coming in yet, wants to run your health care. Many of us pointed out the flawed funding formulas and unsustainability of unicorn farts and happy thoughts fueling the drive before and after the law was rushed through Congress without anyone even reading the bill, but we were scoffed at and told we were just mean bad people.

Well, it looks like the mean bad people were the ones lying to implement the hoax that is now Obamacare.

The large subsidies for health insurance that helped fuel the successful drive to sign up some 8 million Americans for coverage under the Affordable Care Act may push the cost of the law considerably above current projections, a new federal report indicates.

Nearly 9 in 10 Americans who bought health coverage on the federal government’s healthcare marketplaces received government assistance to offset their premiums.

90% of the signups had to be bribed into doing so. Where does that bribe money come from people?

Premiums that normally would have cost $346 a month on average instead cost consumers just $82, with the federal government picking up the balance of the bill.

8 million Obamacare enrollees X $264 subsidized monthly premium (aka bribe) = $2,112,000,000  A MONTH

Oh the math gets far worse….

That total does not count the additional cost of providing coverage to millions of additional consumers who bought coverage in states that ran their own marketplaces, including California, Connecticut, Maryland and New York. About a third of the 8 million people who signed up for coverage this year used a state-run marketplace.

The fact is no one really knows.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated in April that the annual cost of subsidies will rise to $23 billion next year and $95 billion in 2024, although the budget office continued to project that all the law’s costs will be offset by additional revenue it raises and by cuts in other federal healthcare spending.

But hey, don’t worry, we’ll make up for it in other areas….

Which gets me back to that crumbling bridge they say they don’t have the money to fix.

Folks, someday, you will be that bridge that they can’t afford to fix if you allow Government to take over your health care system.

Radical Leftwing Congressman Who Hangs Out With Socialist….

Exactly who does the DFL hang out with while throwing partisan bombs?

“What I am proposing is a political revolution in this country.” – US Sen. Bernie Sanders

The latest DFL fundraising email is just another example of pot meet kettle.

Our party is doing amazing work in Minnesota right now (of course I don’t want to diminish that!) but complacency is a dangerous side effect of success. We can’t let it become our downfall.

Right now, we are being attacked by the GOP on all sides.

Republicans will stop at nothing to take back the state legislature, and our DFL leaders are big targets for them. Mitch McConnell wants to buy Al Franken’s seat to help Republicans take control of the Senate. And Michele Bachmann is pushing for fellow Tea Partier Tom Emmer to replace her in the House as Bachmann 2.0.

We can’t let Republicans take control and reverse all the progress we’ve made. If we’re going to stop them, we need your help to meet our $15,000 goal by April 30. Will you give today?

Minnesota Republicans think they can win back the governor’s mansion and the state legislature this year, and we all know what will happen if they succeed: More government shutdowns and backward policies. They’ll do everything they can to repeal all the progress we’ve made on workers’ rights, women’s rights, voters’ rights and marriage equality. We can’t let that happen!

Governor Dayton and the rest of the DFL leadership need our help and they need it now. With help from DFLers like you, we stood up to the GOP in 2012 and won. Can I count on you again in 2014?

Thank you for helping me and the DFL show the Republicans that we won’t back down!

Rep. Keith Ellison

On Sunday Ellison held a Fundraiser with Sen. Bernie Sanders an open socialist who is calling for a political revolution in the United States.

It is time for the DFL to stop getting a free pass on just how radical and left wing they are. Their Congressional Delegation is among the most liberal. Their Legislative leaders are on the far left fringe of Minnesota Democrats, yet they are allowed to pretend to be main stream.

They seek to divide this country and silence any opposing thought, especially those that believe in liberty, freedom, private property, and personal responsibility. Oddly, the very things our Founders fought for over 200 years ago.

Progressive when it comes to politics has nothing to do with forward looking policies, they are aiming to take us backwards, to a society of calculated outcomes and socialism. It disgusts me that they are allowed to attack freedom loving people like Bachmann and Emmer while they are trying to shred the Constitution and redistribute the wealth of our nation and spread the misery around.

Minnesota Democrats Aim To Infringe On Your Civil Rights

The notion of the Democrats being the party of tolerance and civil rights for all is one of the biggest running scams going in Minnesota politics. Their war against law abiding firearms owners is well documented, but they are taking a page out of the Obama administration’s IRS scandal and trying to force organizations that they disagree with politically to release the names of all donors while they secretly buy election after election with their Progressive organizations funded by a handful of billionaires and the labor unions.

Minnesota: Legislature Considering Ominous Bill Designed to Suppress Political Speech, Anti-Gun Legislation to Receive Committee Consideration

Your immediate action needed to stop suppression of political speech in Minnesota

House File 1944 and Senate File 1915, dangerous, politically motivated measures aimed at suppressing political speech by membership organizations such as the NRA, are moving quickly through the Minnesota legislature.  These fatally flawed bills pose a grave risk to freedom of speech in Minnesota and impose excessive regulatory burdens on political and commercial interests.  Additionally, this legislation would inhibit the NRA’s ability to provide candidate information at critical times before an election.  Your action is needed immediately – please contact your state Senator and Representative TODAY and demand their opposition to any legislation that inhibits your First Amendment freedom needed to protect your Second Amendment rights.  Contact information for state Senators can be found here.  Contact information for state Representatives can be found here.  Click here to find out who represents you.

HF 1944 and SF 1915 would require organizations like the NRA, who engage in political speech, to immediately disclose the names of many of their donors, including those who pay membership dues.  These bills are intended to suppress political speech by organizations such as the NRA and others who communicate with their members.  These bills are overly broad, vague and would chill election-related speech.

HF 1944 is eligible for House consideration AT ANY TIME.

SF 1915 is scheduled to be considered by the Senate Judiciary Committee this Friday, March 21, at 12:00 noon.  Please contact members of this committee and urge them to OPPOSE this misguided legislation.  Committee members’ contact information can be found here.

*********

The state legislature is also considering several measures, House File 3067 and Senate File 2690, to impose additional regulations, serious penalties and red tape on permit holders who choose to carry their firearms while visiting the State Capitol Complex.  At this time, a law-abiding permit holder can carry in the State Capitol Complex as long as the permit holder has notified the Commissioner of Public Safety of their intent to do so in advance.

The additional superfluous proposed regulations would do nothing to improve the notification requirement or process, but instead would create traps for law-abiding permit holders.  This proposed legislation would go so far as to mandate an arbitrary “renewal” period for those permit holders who previously sought permission to carry on Capitol grounds, requiring that “within 30 days of the renewal date of a person’s permit to carry, the person shall renotify the commissioner of the person’s intent to carry,” or the permit holder could face a felony.

Anti-gun legislators have been attempting to ban the carrying of firearms in the state Capitol, and since they have continuously failed at instituting a ban, are setting traps for law-abiding permit holders who choose to exercise their Second Amendment rights while petitioning their elected officials.  The carrying of firearms for self-defense by law-abiding permit holders is not a threat to security at the state Capitol.  It is an affront to law-abiding Minnesotans to insinuate that permit holders are dangerous criminals who should be feared while on Capitol grounds.  Minnesota gun owners should not have to choose between their own security and participation in the legislative process.

HF 3067 is scheduled to be heard TOMORROW, March 20, by the House Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee at 10:00 a.m.  Please contact members of this committee and urge them to OPPOSE this ill-conceived legislation.  Contact information for committee members can be found here.

SF 2690 is scheduled to be heard TOMORROW, March 20, by the Senate Judiciary Committee at 12:00 p.m.  Please contact members of this committee and urge them to OPPOSE this dangerous legislation. Contact information for committee members can be found here.

MNSure’s Unreasonable Search and Seizure – I Plead The 4th

There is a new trend in Government, data is collected and shared with law enforcement and the IRS. Don’t worry though, its “just in case” you break the law. Of course this runs amuck of the Constitution, but that document is completely ignored now by politicians and agents of Government.

4th Amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

At the Federal level, the SAFE Act does a similar thing, including sending your finger prints and an FBI background check to the Department of Justice where it will be stored – just in case.

I saw a story on Drudge this morning about Maryland’s “marketplace” and how personal data is “protected” – more properly put – used to implicate you in a crime.

Maryland’s Health Connection, the state’s Obamacare marketplace, has been plagued by delays in the first days of open enrollment.  If users are able to endure long page-loading delays, they are presented with the website’s privacy policy, a ubiquitous fine-print feature on websites that often go unread. Nevertheless, users are asked to check off a box that they agree to the terms.

The policy contains many standard statements about information automatically collected regarding Internet browsers and IP addresses, temporary “cookies” used by the site, and website accessibility.  However, at least two conditions may give some users pause before proceeding.

The first is regarding personal information submitted with an application for those users who follow through on the sign up process all the way to the end.  The policy states that all information to help in applying for coverage and even for making a payment will be kept strictly confidential and only be used to carry out the function of the marketplace.  There is, however, an exception: “[W]e may share information provided in your application with the appropriate authorities for law enforcement and audit activities.”

Obamacare is a Federal law requiring ‘marketplaces’ so chances are every state will be the same….. MNSure is Mark Dayton’s version of Obamacare, I wonder what it does with data. Via MNSure’s terms and conditions page (aka what you must agree with to comply with this federal mandate. (AKA involuntary search and seizure)

With whom may we share information?

We will only share information about you as needed and as allowed or required by law. We may share your information with agencies or persons who need the information to do their jobs, such as MNsure employees, investigators and auditors, community assistance partners you are working with, law enforcement officials, other state, federal and local governmental agencies, your health care insurer, agency, managed care organization or others who pay for your care, and anyone else authorized by law to receive the information

What happened to the 4th Amendment?

I know defenders of Obama will quickly point out that most websites include similar language, but Obamacare is a mandate. Its involuntary (unless you helped elect Obama and Democrats and are owed a political favor so are granted a waver).

I guess Nancy Pelosi was right, we Congress did have to pass the bill before we could read the bill.

Just a reminder to everyone: Senator Al Franken was the deciding vote in passing Obamacare. Upon completion of his successful theft of the 2008 election recount, he became the 60th vote in the US Senate giving Democrats the ability to break a GOP filibuster on this disastrous law.

The DFL’s Alamo, Minimum Wage, Equal Outcomes, & Directive 10-289

Its interesting to me that whenever Government is projected to have a deficit, there are talks of spending cuts, or even reductions in the growth rate of it, Democrats trot out the Police, firefighters, old people, and school kids to use as a backdrop to force Republicans to increase taxes. Every single time there is not bipartisan support to increase taxes, the Democrats rattle off the same laundry list of services that will be cut or people that will lose their jobs. Its like clock work.

Now there is political motivation for why they do that, but the point it, they claim to understand some basic business principles. The idea is that if you restrict the amount of revenue Government has available to it, that things will have to change. They will have to find savings or cut spending. They always go for the jugular of schools, seniors, and first responders.

Perpetual and permanent government growth is the Democrats Alamo. They know that if Americans and Minnesotans remember/”figure out” that they can get a better deal, have better choices, and more freedom and liberty through the private sector that their quest for absolute power over the lives of us is over. Its why they oppose any education reforms empowering parents to do what is best for their kids. Unions remove the ability for localities to cater their pay and benefits to meet the local market supply and demand. Its one size fits all, let us make this decision for you.

A eerily plausible fictional interpretation of what Democrats truly envision is part of the Atlas Shrugged movies. Part 2 includes Directive 10-289.

You see evidence of that in DFL State Rep. Ryan Winkler’s minimum wage proposal which prohibits businesses from reacting to Government actions. Take a look at his latest amendment to the Minimum wage increase which shines a light on the scary similarities between modern day Democrats and the Wesley Mouch of Atlas Shrugged.

“Large employer” means an enterprise whose annual gross volume of sales made or business done is not less than $625,000…”

[…]

“No employer may take any action to displace an employee, including a partial displacement through a reduction in hours, wages, or employment benefits, in order to hire an employee at the wage authorized in this paragraph.”

[…]

“EFFECTIVE DATE. This section is effective the day following final enactment.”

I’m no economist and we hire a bookkeeper, but chances are our modest 5 employee company fits Winkler’s “large employer” definition. Just as the SAFE Act and Wall Street bills were aimed at millionaires and billionaires, little mom and pop shops, doing good and honest work providing goods and services with nary a complaint, end up getting squashed under the same iron fist of bureaucrats and progressive do-gooders.

Case in point. Winkler’s law will prohibit companies from doing exactly what he says Government will be forced to do if taxes aren’t increased. People will be fired or as Obama says with Sequestration, government workers will be furloughed.

Somehow Government understands that it takes money for private employers to actually employ people, but it doesn’t care that higher taxes, mandates wage increases, and government red tape all make that harder to do. Just imagine if they had the self awareness to pretend that their sacred Government was a private business and they were the CEO. The roles reversed. They understand the economic of business, the problem is their business is Government.

I could go on, but the point is, isn’t it ironic that whenever spending cuts are mentioned, Democrats squeal like pigs, yet they call businesses and private citizens greedy and unpatriotic when they have a similar reaction to Government wanting to take more of their money away.
