More wisdom and reason from Walter Hudson in his latest podcast. I really really like him.
I agree with libertarian principles, but I ask: When everyone else who does – sits on a couch, has a real job, and doesn’t hold an election certificate, what difference does it make?
Hudson even brought up Jesse Ventura in this one. A man from who I bought snake oil from in 1998, and quickly learned the mistakes of trying to unilaterally change government. You unite both parties against you. I have been working as hard as possible (and allowed) to make up for that mistake. I’ve learned that perfection is the enemy of good enough and some candidates say what they have to to get elected, but never have the intentions or ability to follow through.
If Libertarians think the Independence Party of Minnesota is the perfect vehicle to implement their ideology, just wait til the DFL sees you as a threat instead of an ally. (Yes, they are loving the little food fights they see happening on the left keeping the GOP busy in circular firing squads while they are out there working and collecting data and convincing people to vote against their best interests.
Short cut revolution: “avoiding the hard work of convincing people our ideas are right….” The hard work of retail politics. Messing around with the rules of a political party. Electing one man as President….
I hope many of the fence sitting libertarians take Hudson’s advice to heart. The country needs the “Liberty Movement” to succeed if it is to survive. Its easy to sit back and point fingers. Its really hard to win elections. Its really hard to win enough elections in order to hold majorities able to actually enact the reforms needed to save the country.
Stop fighting against Republicans over fractional ratings differences on special interest scorecards when there are perfectly good Marxists with 100% voting records against Liberty and Freedom just sitting there going untouched. You will be surprised that if you simply, and respectfully, show up and engage a Republican office holder, that most of them can have their minds changed if you think they are too ‘establishment’. These people are surrounded by lobbyists and bureaucrats all day and only hear from the advocates for the nanystate. Show up and lobby your elected official at their office, not political party meeting.
No one candidate or party leader is going to save the country. It takes a majority. Running a fool’s errand to have a protest vote in a 3rd party temper tantrum is only going to help the Marxists continue to divide and conquer this nation, but its going to kill the only thing viable to prevent our demise.
To repeat: I want the Liberty Movement’s overall goal of getting America back to our Founding vision to succeed, but I don’t want to kill the only thing capable of making that happen, and that is the Republican party. Its the only thing capable of going up against the vast powers of the Democrat Party and all its Progressive allies.
Every time volunteers and elected officials spend hours at a GOP meeting arguing of details and scorecard ratings, they are wasting time that could be used doing the hard work of retail politics that will actually change the country. Its easier to show up at a meeting and demand politicians do your bidding, write angry Facebook posts about how some Republican upset you, or fantasize that a 3rd party candidate is going approach double digits in election returns to teach the Republicans a lesson.
Its another entirely for all our work and effort to actually go towards saving the country from the Progressive Marxists who want to destroy every shred of Liberty we have left. While their may be some who call themselves Republicans, there are a heck of a lot more Democrats who want to see the America that you and I love fail. To me, that’s a far bigger problem than having a perfectly pure Republican minority caucus.
