Liberty Is a 4 Letter Word To Me Still
This is why I consider anyone who thinks Ron Paul is a God or the smartest man on the planet and if we would just nominate him because that we just need to start listening to … are suspect and not to be trusted in Republican party happenings. I know and work with many great people who did support Ron Paul, but now that it is over, its no longer about Ron Paul.
Ron Paul Is Destroying, Not Saving The GOP
Its not that I don’t believe in liberty, I do. Its that I don’t believe in labeling one self and using it as a Scarlett letter or secret handshake to know who to trust. As part of a party, group, or organization, you have to be able to trust the other members. So please, don’t consider this me trying to chase new people out of the party like a cranky old SOB. Well, not everyone at least….
I had a discussion yesterday with someone in the “Liberty Movement” who is also frustrated with the Ron Paul cult worshipers (my words). They didn’t appreciate being lumped in with the likes of crotchety old ink stained wretch or the Queen B. (Why no I am not going to give them any respect or the publicity of using their real names or being nice to them. They are dishonest and have dubious intentions and motives. )
I told the Liberty person that it was too bad they were unhappy with my lumping because until the Liberty Caucus/Movement/Liberty Republicans publicly disavow, destroy, and discredit those fringe fanatics grandstanding for the sake of grandstanding simply because the media will pay attention because they can help undermine Republicans…. or those who took control of BPOUs, CDs, and campaigns only to not even care enough to try to run them or are actually using their power to prevent these party orgas from functioning to help elect Republicans…. the people who say that Romney is as bad as Obama, or are supporting 3rd party candidates …. until then they are no different.
Its not my problem that we have Ron Paul RINOs (yes it does work that way too) trying to defeat Romney and refusing to help other Republicans, its the Liberty crowd’s problem. With out the Liberty movement, Ron Paul would still just be that Michael Savage kind of perennial candidate in the corner of the stage or doing the Ralph Nader circuit of 3rd party Presidential candidate purgatory . Ron Paul is only masquerading as a Republican Presidential candidate because he gets the publicity. He’s exploiting the Republicans party, don’t take my word on that, take Jason Lewis’.
Michael Savage you say? I mean the kind of guy who when you listen to them, you start off like: Yeah … he’s right … wow … that makes perfect sense…. and as he goes on, you start to go: well I’m not so sure … whoa not so fast … al right that was over the line there … nope, I’m done, see ya.
I agree with Ron Paul on many issues, or rather I should say that Ron Paul agrees with me and the Republican party on many issues. He refuses to work together on what we agree on. Its his way or the highway paved with undreds of millions in earmarks he requested for his district, but don’t worry my dear principles in spite of your face libertarians, he voted against his own earmarks…..
If you have to label or hyphenate yourself to be a Republican, you may not really be a Republican. That’s not to say you have to be a 3rd party person and can’t be included, but if you can’t find yourself being just a Republican with no strings attached…….
Look, I say welcome, the more the merrier. And trust me, I’d much rather live in an America that Ron Paul would approve of than what we have now, but perfection is the enemy of good enough for this election. Even if Ron Paul were our candidate, and he did win and become the 45th President, he couldn’t just wave a magic wand and do what he wants to. He wouldn’t become King. He’d still need a governing majority in order to actually do or undo things.
Sooooooo we need to elect numerous people to Congress and the Legislature in order to actually get America back to its roots and back on track to a stable economic footing and restore us to a day when the first question about a new idea is not, can we afford it, or how can we regulate it, but does it restrict the freedom and liberty of Americans?
You want to help, great, let’s go, but if you still want to debate Ron Paul….

So, what do we do about this? I am stuck in the middle. I’m not “in” any movement, but I supported many of the liberty folks as delegates (as I too tend to be well on the conservative side of the spectrum). But now I’m getting frustrated by the stupid comments made by a few outspoken folks (that there is ZERO difference between Obama and Romney – oh please). Many RP / Liberty ideas ARE making their way into the party (evidenced by the changes in the platform). It’s also hard to ignore the fact that by participating in BPOU positions, they have a taken on a duty to support (or heck, at least not HARM) endorsed candidates. If a liberty candidate ever does actually win the endorsement, they would need the “establishment” GOP to hop on board or else he/she would be DOA. So why deliberately antagonize? On the other hand, actions of the ‘establishment’ are continuing to push the liberty folks out. That gives them something legitimate to raise *ell about (and they are right to react negatively to the rules changes at the RNC – it’s a huge power grab and it’s a terrible blow to grassroots!) Ron Paul IS a Republican. He’s been elected to Congress on the Republican ticket and deserves the same shot at endorsement as any of the (8, 9?) original GOP candidates. What needs to happen to pull together by Nov 6th? I don’t have the answer. Does anyone?
