Fate
After phone calling last night a few of us were talking about some things and stayed late. On my way home down Highway 10, I was detoured by an accident scene. I had a feeling it was bad. Suicide by car.
A 24-year-old homeless woman is dead after reportedly darting in front of a vehicle while carrying her small dog in Ramsey Monday, Aug. 13, according to the Anoka County sheriff’s office.
The woman was reportedly from Big Lake but was estranged from family. The sheriff’s office is withholding her name while attempting to notify next-of-kin.
She was hit at the intersection of Highway 10 and Sunfish Lake Boulevard at 9:40 p.m. by a driver heading eastbound on the highway, the sheriff’s office said. The driver had a green light to cross Sunfish Lake Boulevard when the woman reportedly jumped in front of his car.
The driver was identified as Patrick Donald Berg, 27, of Coon Rapids.
A person close to the woman told investigators the woman had recently been talking of suicide and had been looking for someone to take her dog the night she died. After finding no one, she reportedly told her friend she wanted the dog with her when she died.
Suicide by car. Had I not stayed late and helped clean up, I could have been the person who this person decided to jump in front of.
If you are thinking of suicide, get help. If you know someone who talks about it, get them help.
And, if you are going to go ahead with it, don’t force someone to be the one who kills you. Imagine having someone jump in front of your car. Seeing their eyes as you…… I have nightmares.
And for Pete’s sake, don’t punish the dog.
