"John McClane: You know what you get for being a hero? Nothin'. You get shot at. You get a little pat on the back, blah, blah, blah, attaboy. You get divorced. Your wife can't remember your last name. Your kids don't want to talk to you. You get to eat a lot of meals by yourself. Trust me, kid, nobody wants to be that guy.
Matt Farrell: Then why you doing this?
John McClane: Because there's no body else to do it right now, that's why. Believe me, if there were somebody else to do it, I'd let them do it, but there's not. So we're doing it.
Matt Farrell: Ah. That's what makes you that guy. "

Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Hegseth 2014

Dear Andrew,

First of all, I want to thank all of our staff, volunteers, donors, and supporters.  The team we built, and what we accomplished in just 2 short months, was incredible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  It was an honor to work with each and every one of you, and I could not be more appreciative.
I have learned a great deal from this process and could not have done it without the contributions of so many. Specifically, I’d like to thank my wife Samantha for being my steadfast companion, and an incredible mother to our son Gunner.  I’d like to thank my parents—Brian and Penny—for their hard work and support.  And I would like to thank my staff—especially Anne Neu, Shawn Peterson, Barbara Malzacher, Kyler Nerison, and Jimmy Knutson—for their tireless efforts.
We ran a professional, first class campaign from top to bottom. While others slung mud, we stuck to the issues. And while others used underhanded tactics, we played it straight. We have nothing to hang our heads about, and should be proud of both the mission and the methods of our campaign.
Obviously the endorsing convention did not work out the way we had hoped. Though we forewarned as many people as we could, our concerns became reality and the outcome was nearly sealed before we arrived in St. Cloud—a credit to the overwhelming Ron Paul organization.  I congratulate Kurt Bills on the win.
With your help, we will continue to work to replace President Obama and take back the U.S. Senate this fall.  As I said in every speech—nothing less than the future of our country is at stake. We need to reignite private-sector job growth and revive our economy by slashing anti-business regulations, reducing and simplifying the tax code, and fighting for real spending cuts in Washington. And, as Republicans, we must continue to fight for a strong national defense and traditional values.
As you know, I jumped into this race almost immediately after returning from Afghanistan—and will therefore take some long over-due downtime with my family.  But that said, for us—as conservative Republicans—the fight continues. I will be taking this downtime to consider options and next steps for the months and years ahead. I welcome your input.
I am not certain what God has in mind for the future, but I continue to feel called to service.  Like you, I know we have a tough road ahead and face many challenges as a nation.  The one thing my family and I are sure of is that we will continue to stand with you, just as you have stood with us.  That is not going to change because of one convention.
Again, thank you for your support, prayers and effort these past few months.  I look forward to continuing to stand and fight for our country, our state, our Republican Party, and our values.
God bless,
