"John McClane: You know what you get for being a hero? Nothin'. You get shot at. You get a little pat on the back, blah, blah, blah, attaboy. You get divorced. Your wife can't remember your last name. Your kids don't want to talk to you. You get to eat a lot of meals by yourself. Trust me, kid, nobody wants to be that guy.
Matt Farrell: Then why you doing this?
John McClane: Because there's no body else to do it right now, that's why. Believe me, if there were somebody else to do it, I'd let them do it, but there's not. So we're doing it.
Matt Farrell: Ah. That's what makes you that guy. "

Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

Bitter Party of One….

Well its over. The Ron Paul wave swept through CD6 and that required me to go. I volunteered to “go away” as to avoid a fight and allow credible leadership to stay in place. Unlike the surprise wave in CD3, the CD6 elections went as predicted.

It was an unceremonious end to my 8 years of party involvement and it hurts, but the party is under attack (or being used for the mental masterbation of a man who doesn’t aim to win, or help defeat Obama, and has no plans on supporting the nominee) right now by people who don’t care about the broader goal. But they say I can’t help run CD6 because I have opinions. The Ron Paul campaign signs and stickers were replaced by Kurt Bills for US Senate ones this weekend in CD6.

I’m OK with that, because when the Congresswoman asked people to pledge 5 hours of volunteer time for endorse Republican candidates up and sown the ticket, some people wearing Kurt Bills stickers refused to stand up. Yes, there are Delegates in the Republican Party who will not help any other Republicans. And folks, that is my problem with this whole Ron Paul thing.

Do you really want to help Republicans lose in the State Legislature? Is helping Ron Paul have 150 votes in Tampa worth having your taxes in Minnesota be increased, and have 20% state budget increases? Because some people clearly showed they don’t care about that. They don’t understand that if a Republican loses, the Democrat wins. It *IS* that simple.

But, hey, I am free now. I’m able to speak freely and do what I want when I want. I’m not going to have to give hundreds of hours to the party that doesn’t want me anymore. The people who claimed victory and left the, thumping their chests Saturday, have no clue how much time some of us put in to make that convention happen.

Oh and to the person who was in charge of the Team Romney slate, don’t blame us for the current condition of the party, the disorganization, or that you couldn’t figure out how to inform, people who they needed to vote for.

Good bye CD6, it was fun and not fun over the last 8 years. With a tear in my eye, I walked away, feeling like I was kicked in the ass. But again, all my time and money I put in will be mine next time. I get to go help the candidates I want.

Don’t get me wrong, CD6 does  have good leaders still in place, I just hope that the Delegates understand that with power comes great responsibility.

RF Flashback: With Power Comes Great Responsibility

Of course I saw what some of them actually think and plan to do for the GOP, (no, not all) but a good portion of the Paul/Bills folks showed very clearly that they are not showing up at these GOP Conventions to show their support and dedication to the GOP and helping elect its candidates. They are only there to elect National Delegates who will vote for Ron Paul.

I hope I am wrong, but in 2008 similar things happened and the elections went horribly bad for the GOP.
