"John McClane: You know what you get for being a hero? Nothin'. You get shot at. You get a little pat on the back, blah, blah, blah, attaboy. You get divorced. Your wife can't remember your last name. Your kids don't want to talk to you. You get to eat a lot of meals by yourself. Trust me, kid, nobody wants to be that guy.
Matt Farrell: Then why you doing this?
John McClane: Because there's no body else to do it right now, that's why. Believe me, if there were somebody else to do it, I'd let them do it, but there's not. So we're doing it.
Matt Farrell: Ah. That's what makes you that guy. "

Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

A Shot From The Taco Stand – Carey Lashes Out At Bachmann

I guess you can’t blame the guy, but it proves the professionalism quotient may be overstated.

Ex chief of staff says Bachmann not ‘ready’ to be president

Former Minnesota GOP Chairman Ron Carey, who served a brief stint as U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann’s chief of staff, has told the Associated Press that she’s not ready for the White House.

A statement like this will (or should) send ripples through out the Republican Party of Minnesota. After all, Ron Carey is the former Chair of the Party who helped get the current Chair and Deputy Chair elected. I’ve also heard that Carey is or was the manager/owner of a Baja Sol Taco Shop. (Current MNGOP Chair Tony Sutton and his wife Bridget own and operate the restaurant chain)

Full disclosure: I was an ardent opponent of Ron Carey as Party Chair and Bachmann Chief of Staff.

RF Flashback: SD 49 WOW What A Day

3) One of the other big deals for me personally had to do with Congresswoman Bachmann, her new Chief of Staff Ron Carey, and myself. I had a chance to express my concerns to Bachmann face to face and told her that I cannot help her out anymore. I just can’t forget what Carey did to me and others over the years. I think the move to turn Carey loose on the Campaign side is a huge mistake that she will regret. I gave her the key to the lawnsigns back and told her that I would not work against her, but that I just couldn’t help her with Carey around calling the shots. If Ron Carey could have picked her up and thrown her over his shoulder and run out the door when her and I were talking, I think he would have.

I do not mean Congresswoman Bachmann any ill will, I do want her to win reelection, but I just can’t get over the staffing moves and trust she is putting in Ron Carey. Letting him fire the campaign staff on the eve of BPOU conventions? Well, let’s just say that the absence of certain people helping her plan for these was noticed by yours truly and others. Let’s hope she realizes the mistake before it is too late or more people find better things to do this campaign cycle like me.

His speedy departure brought relief to many of us out here and I hear were done quickly enough to mend some fences with people irked due to Carey’s handling of the Congresswoman’s business. Let’s just say that if you didn’t notice that after she replaced Carey, that she found another gear in her campaign, you probably were hiding under a rock.

Al though I suppose this could all be spurred by the idea that Carey is going to support Mike Huckabee again. You may remember the last time he did this, I got my name on the front page of the Strib and Carey’s party lawyer got dispatched to debate me. After all, when the sitting Chair of the state party decides to take sides in a contested race, it tends to make waves.

If this new salvo from Carey is related to him joining Team Huckster, the decision to attack his former boss and conservative rockstar seem to be incredibly telling. Who knows, maybe it isn’t Carey doing this on his own, but instead at the behest of Huckabee’s campaign.

I will admit that I haven’t researched just exactly what Ron Carey was up to since he was fired by Congresswoman Bachmann.
