"John McClane: You know what you get for being a hero? Nothin'. You get shot at. You get a little pat on the back, blah, blah, blah, attaboy. You get divorced. Your wife can't remember your last name. Your kids don't want to talk to you. You get to eat a lot of meals by yourself. Trust me, kid, nobody wants to be that guy.
Matt Farrell: Then why you doing this?
John McClane: Because there's no body else to do it right now, that's why. Believe me, if there were somebody else to do it, I'd let them do it, but there's not. So we're doing it.
Matt Farrell: Ah. That's what makes you that guy. "

Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

2nd Amendment Watch – Lions & Lambs

Gun sales are up.

The gun show at the Stillwater Armory on Thanksgiving weekend featured an unlikely salesman. A flier taped to the door featured a stern-looking picture of the president-elect, with the words: ”Barack Obama: Enemy of your gun rights.”

While the gun show had plenty of competition from retailers starting their Christmas sales, business was brisk as people streamed in and bought up shotguns, hunting knives and at least a few semiautomatic rifles — the gun most gun-rights advocates think an Obama presidency might ban.

I’m sure my readers understand what the 2nd Amendment is all about, for those that don’t. It is so that Government can’t use force to oppress. If gun control zealots were in control during the Colonial revolutionary times, we’d have been crushed by Great Britian’s superior firepower.

My girlfriend and I are going to be getting some handguns before Christmas. We are going through a friend of a friend and unfortunately, the distributors are out of stock. So we are in a holding pattern. The deal is too good to pass up, but if they distributors can’t catch up to demand we’re gonna have to go pay retail.

I am afraid that the Obama administration and the liberal Congress are going to go after guns. They will very likely ban some at some point, they will go after ammunition costs as well.

There are fears of the ammo tax, maybe even up to a dollar a round. Banning of certain styles or calibers of guns. Meanwhile, the excuse for shredding the Bill of Rights, violence caused by firearms, is going ignored by gun banning activists. You see it isn’t lawful guns and gun owners who are doing the drivebys or robberies. If they are serious about gun crimes, then they will go after illegal gun owners and the gang culture and throw them in jail and weld the cells shut.

The recession is likely to lead to more crime. The 2nd Amendment is not only to allow people to defend themselves from an oppressive government, but also when government can’t defend us. The areas of the country which are already dangerous to venture into at night or alone will become even worse. And areas that were once safe will become risky.

And that my friends is why we have a second amendment. People, both public and private, will prey on the weak. The right to keep and bear arms is to allow the sheep to have a chance against the lions.

Update:

A second amendment referee has chastized me for this post so I need to remind.

We’re buying our guns in a legal way. We’ve both applied for and been approved for our state required permit to purchase. We are going through a legal gun seller. I thought I had been more than clear on that but some people seem to think I am hinting at an under the table purchase. Truth be told, I’m probably not going to be able to wait for the distributors (LEGAL) to resupply from the initial post election rush) and will go buy at a mega super duper chain store on Hwy 65 near my house.

Also My lions and lambs analogy has been scoffed at for its connection to the lameoh Redford Cruise movie that made us all want to stab our eyes out last year. My apologies. I guess I am not qualified to speak with out running it by the 2nd Amendment thought police.

So with that I strike my post talking about why people are rushing to buy guns and simply will point to this for all future posts where I feel like opinionating on our 2nd Amendment rights. This is supposedly all that you need to know.
