"John McClane: You know what you get for being a hero? Nothin'. You get shot at. You get a little pat on the back, blah, blah, blah, attaboy. You get divorced. Your wife can't remember your last name. Your kids don't want to talk to you. You get to eat a lot of meals by yourself. Trust me, kid, nobody wants to be that guy.
Matt Farrell: Then why you doing this?
John McClane: Because there's no body else to do it right now, that's why. Believe me, if there were somebody else to do it, I'd let them do it, but there's not. So we're doing it.
Matt Farrell: Ah. That's what makes you that guy. "

Words To Live By
"The era of small government is over ... government has to be more proactive, more aggressive." ( Tim Pawlenty 2006)

"You're just petty politicians, who'd sooner sign onto the wisdom of a tyrant in another country, than the demands of ticked off voters in your own." (Neil Cavuto June 2008)

“I didn’t question her patriotism. I questioned her judgment.” Mr. Cheney went on: “The point I made and I’ll make it again is that Al Qaeda functions on the basis that they think they can break our will. That’s their fundamental underlying strategy, that if they can kill enough Americans or cause enough havoc, create enough chaos in Iraq, then we’ll quit and go home. And my statement was that if we adopt the Pelosi policy, that then we will validate the strategy of Al Qaeda. I said it, and I meant it.” (Vice President Cheney NYT Feb. 2007)

"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers. (Ronald Reagan March 1, 1975)

"Oh, no! First of all, if I took one vote away from a serious candidate, it would be a sin." (Al Franken Time Magazine, 9/1/03)

What the Heck is Happening to Conservatives in MN

We’re getting fired! Well some are. This just in, (HT Students For Bachmann) Senator Bachmann fired from Minority Leadership.

SAINT PAUL—A fight to the finish over whether to raise taxes has led to the removal of Senator Michele Bachmann, (R-Stillwater) from her State Senate leadership position as Assistant Minority Leader in charge of Policy for the Senate Republican Caucus.

“My constituents are my first priority, and they’ve consistently supported me fighting tax increases. I think they’d agree that I’ve been very faithful to their wishes,” said Bachmann.

“Unfortunately, I felt at the end of the recent legislative session that I was fighting an uphill battle on my constituents’ behalf,” said Bachmann. “It became especially clear on the final day of session when I offered an amendment to remove the cigarette tax from the Health and Human Services budget bill that my philosophical differences with the minority leader were just too deep for him to allow me to continue in a leadership position.”

“Today the fallout was finalized—I was stripped of my leadership position,” said Bachmann. “It’s a shame that the anti-tax message is lost on the leadership when it so resonates with our constituents.”

“What’s most discouraging is that in the end, I supported final passage of the HHS budget bill because of its strong pro-life language recognizing fetal pain, and still the minority leader was not satisfied,” said Bachmann.

“For five years, I have consistently fought tax increases and have been an advocate for the unborn,” said Bachmann. “Though my advocacy has cost me my leadership position, I will continue to fight against tax increases and for the well-being of those who cannot speak for themselves. The upside of today’s event is that I can be completely committed to thinking about my constituents’ concerns.”

Looks like not every one shares the blogosphere’s disgust for more and more spending. Too bad that another fine conservative has fallen to the moderate Republican leadership of the Minnesota Legislature. Now Senator Bachmann and Representative Krinkie have either left in protest or been thrown out of their leadership positions due to the complete unraveling of the Conservative Movement in Minnesota.

Who’s next? It could be you. Watch out, the daggers are out in this town. I know of a few Elected officials who are strongly considering hanging it up rather than have to deal with the bother of controling spending because of attack dogs and bloggers, but the Moderate Republicans are on the offensive. They want to drive out the budget hawks and tax cutters. They want a clear path towards a Bigger Minnesota Budget. Senator Bachmann’s firing from Assistant Minority Leader is a blow for next year. She had the ability to hold Johnson’s feet to the fire and get results. Something we conservatives have been lacking of. Too bad for us, the conservatives, I guess.

This has a correlation to my post about last night’s BBQ. If I have time, I’ll expunge my thoughts later tonight.

BUT in some bit of luck, Senator Bachmann will be coming over to casa de Residual Forces for a pow wow next Thursady. It is about the 6th CD, and she asked for the meeting. But I will sure try to get some good material for you, my fellow readers. I may even try to talk her into trivia at Keegan’s.
